Safer school and office transport, run from one place

myYatra School helps a school and its families see the same school run: who is on the bus, who is not travelling today, and where the bus is. myYatra Work does the same for employee and officer transport. Transport companies and drivers can list the seats they have free, and a family or an employee can ask for one.

This is a working demonstration built and run on one computer in Sri Lanka. It is not yet a live service, and no real school, company, family or vehicle is in it.

Who this is for

Each point below says whether it already works in the demonstration or has not been built. Nothing is listed as working unless it does.

For schools

Government, national, provincial, private and international schools. One place to see every route, every child on it, and who is responsible for each trip.

  • Working in the local demonstrationRoutes, stops, vehicles and drivers for your school, kept by your own staff.
  • Working in the local demonstrationA named adult is responsible for every trip, and a trip cannot be closed while a child is still recorded as on board.
  • Working in the local demonstrationParents mark a child as not travelling, and the driver sees it on the day's list without anyone having to telephone.
  • Working in the local demonstrationAttendance is recorded on the bus and kept separately from where the bus is, so one cannot quietly overwrite the other.
  • Working in the local demonstrationAn incident reported on a trip has to be acknowledged by a responsible adult before the trip can be finished.
  • Working in the local demonstrationYour school's data is kept apart from every other school's, and staff only see their own school.
  • Not built yetSign-in with your school's own accounts, such as a Google or Microsoft school account.
  • Not built yetReports you can hand to a board, a parents' association or a ministry office.

For employers and offices

myYatra Work covers staff and officer transport: shift pickups, office runs, and the day-to-day question of who travelled.

  • Working in the local demonstrationShifts, routes and vehicles for your staff, with the same trip rules as the school service.
  • Working in the local demonstrationStaff say in advance whether they are travelling, and the driver's list reflects it.
  • Working in the local demonstrationA record of each run that your administration team can review afterwards.
  • Working in the local demonstrationCost per seat and per run kept in rupees, so transport spend can be looked at honestly.
  • Not built yetJoining up with payroll, HR systems or an existing attendance system.

For transport companies and drivers

If you run buses or vans, or drive your own, you can enrol and publish the seats you actually have free, district by district.

  • Working in the local demonstrationA company or an independent driver enrols with their own details and waits for a person to review it.
  • Working in the local demonstrationPublish a service: route, districts, days, times, vehicle, seat count and an indicative monthly fare per seat.
  • Working in the local demonstrationSeats can never be oversold: an accepted request reduces the seats available, and a cancelled one gives them back.
  • Working in the local demonstrationYou decide every request yourself, and you can decline one with a reason.
  • Not built yetTaking payment for a seat, contracts, or any commission arrangement.
  • Not built yetChecking your licence, your insurance, your vehicle's condition, or the history of anyone who drives for you.

For parents, employees and officers

If your child's school or your employer uses myYatra, you see your own journey and nobody else's. If they do not, you can still look for a service near you and ask about a seat.

  • Working in the local demonstrationSee where your child's bus is while the trip is actually running, and whether your child has been picked up or dropped off.
  • Working in the local demonstrationSay your child is not travelling tomorrow, from your phone, without telephoning the school.
  • Working in the local demonstrationYou see your own child only. Other families' children, and the bus between trips, are not shown to you.
  • Working in the local demonstrationSearch services by district, by the days you need, and by how many seats, then ask the operator for a seat.
  • Not built yetAlerts delivered to your phone by the phone's own notification service.
  • Not built yetPaying a monthly fare through the app.

What myYatra does not do

Please read this part. It matters more than anything above.

  • This is a demonstration, not a live service. There is no national coverage, and no school, company or family is signed up.
  • Nobody's identity, driving licence, vehicle, insurance or history is checked by myYatra. A company or driver listed here has only been read by a person and marked as reviewed. That is a judgement, not a background check, and it is not a safeguarding decision.
  • The marketplace takes no money. Fares shown are indicative only, there is no payment handling, and accepting a seat request is an expression of interest between adults, not a booking or a contract.
  • myYatra is not an emergency service. It does not call the police, an ambulance, a fire service or any other authority, automatically or otherwise. In an emergency, telephone the emergency services yourself.
  • Vehicle position is only shared while a trip is running, and only with the people on that trip. There is no tracking of marketplace vehicles at all.
  • Notifications, maps and sign-in in the demonstration are local and sample-based. Phone notifications and school-account sign-in are not built.
  • Nothing here is a promise about when any unbuilt part will exist.

What happens next

  1. If you are a school or an employer

The next step is a conversation, not a signature. We would look at one route with you, with real stops and real timings but no real children, and tell you honestly what would have to be built before your school or office could use it.

  2. If you run transport or drive

You can enrol and publish the seats you have free. Nothing is charged and nothing is promised. A person reads what you submit before it can be seen by anyone looking for a seat.

  3. If you are a parent, an employee or an officer

Ask your school or your employer. The service only works for you if the people who run your transport are using it.
